Scroggins builds cockpit for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Our crew at Scroggins Aviation Mockup & Effects would like to thank the producers for giving us the opportunity to work on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for two seasons (1 and 2).

Scroggins Aviation built and supplied the Cockpit known as the “Bus” featured in the ABC television series.

The “Bus” aircraft identification CXD-23 (CXD-23215), is in fact a retired Boeing 767, serial number 23215 cockpit section that Scroggins had in its inventory and supplied to the producers of the show. For you trivia buffs, the serial number 23215, used for CXD-23, was added by Doug Scroggins with the assistance of the production’s art department. This number can be found on the main Instrument Panel of the Bus cockpit and behind Agent Coulson’s desk in a framed Data Sheet Drawing of the Bus.  The Bus ended its life when it was shot down in season 2 episode 19 “The Dirty Half Dozen“.

Scroggins supplied parts for the new cockpit mockup shown in seasons 3 and 4.

Visit ABC for more on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Airways Magazine Hollywood reporter features Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

By Airways

Snooping around a backlot, the Airways Hollywood reporter discovered a Boeing 767 cockpit section being used for an ABC Television series called Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (‘S.H.I.E.L.D’ being the acronym for the fictitious Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division). Closer scrutiny revealed that the cockpit is the work of Scroggins Aviation of Las Vegas, Nevada,  and is from the former Japan Airlines 767-300 msn 23215 (JA8236). The flightdeck yokes have ‘SHIELD’ logos, and new glass displays reflect the show’s use of a computer graphic of a six-engine Boeing C-17A Globemaster III, with the additional powerplants mounted on the tailplane (yes, this is Hollywood). The Mystery of America’s Only Unsolved Hijacking; D.B. Cooper

Image of DB Cooper parachutingThe Washington State History Museum contacts Scroggins Aviation for their assistance with the D.B. Cooper display and help by supplying them with several Boeing 727 items.

Explore the mystery of D.B. Cooper – the man who jumped out of passenger airliner. The Washington State History Museum has open to the public from August 6, 2013 through to January 5th, 2014. Feel as if you’re in an airport as you tour through the timeline and see artifacts such as the remaining parachute from Cooper’s flight. See period advertisements, uniforms worn by flight crews, and a cutaway of a Boeing 727. Who was he? Where is he? What happened to the money? These are all unanswered questions in the open investigation of the D.B. Cooper hijacking of Northwest Orient Airlines 305 in 1971. This exhibit takes you back to that time to look at how airline travel of the 1970s differed from that of today, and to focus on the issue of changes in airline security through the decades. The History Museum will also provide captivating speakers in exhibit-related public programs who will discuss the case of D.B. Cooper. Organized by the Washington State Historical Society. Scroggins Aviation is pleased to participate in the museums display by loaning them several Boeing 727 items.

Local News coverage on the display can be seen at: FOX 13 News – D.B. Cooper
